17 others were injured as the shooter opened fire during Mass.
Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara confirmed that a gunman killed 2 children and injured 17 other people, 14 of whom were children, on Wednesday morning when he opened fire on the Annunciation Catholic School during Mass. He reportedly took his own life afterward. Law enforcement stated there was no active threat to the community.
“This was a deliberate act of violence against innocent children and other people worshipping,” Chief O’Hara said. “The sheer cruelty and cowardice of firing into a church full of children is absolutely incomprehensible.”
School officials said that during the incident, which occurred on the third day of the new school year, ambulances and police, FBI, and other federal agents converged on the school while children were evacuated.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz stated, “I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”
President Trump said, “I have been fully briefed on the tragic shooting in Minneapolis, Minnesota. The FBI quickly responded, and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!“
This is the fourth act of gun violence in Minneapolis that has resulted in fatalities this week. Three people were killed in three separate incidents on Tuesday, with one occurring outside a high school.
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For the Lord to heal those who are injured and to comfort the families of those who were killed.
- For Governor Walz and state and local officials as they respond to the gun violence outbreak in Minneapolis.
- For wisdom for President Trump as he pursues policies to enhance law and order and reduce crime.
